Indiana Military Education Program

Indiana Military Education Program

The Indiana Military Education Program (IMEP) serves all military service members and veterans throughout Indiana as well as Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) employees at the Major General Emmett J. Bean Federal Center in Indianapolis, IN.

Indiana Army/Air National Guard

The IMEP is ready and willing to set up college classes at your installation in order to help kick-start your path towards a degree. We’re flexible – classes can be scheduled in order to meet unique needs.

In the Air National Guard? We can help you with completing general education requirements for your Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) degree program. You can also transfer your CCAF credits back to Vincennes University in order to pursue a VU degree!

Interested in completing classes or a degree online? Check out our Distance Education page to see what we offer.

DFAS Program

The primary education program offered by the IMEP is an Accounting program located at the Bean Center in Indianapolis, IN. Courses are offered in the training center located in the building and are designed to help satisfy a portion of the basic education requirements for GS-510 qualification.  This is commonly referred to as the "24 hours of Accounting".

*Important: Completion of the 24 hours of Accounting alone does not meet the requirements for GS-510 qualification.  The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) standards require additional educational credentials or a combination of education and professional experience.  To see the full requirements for GS-510 qualification, please visit the OPM website.

Courses Offered:

ACCT 201 Financial Accounting
ACCT 202 Managerial Accounting
ACCT 205 Intermediate Accounting
ACCT 207 Auditing
ACCT 260 Cost Accounting
BLAW 201 Commercial Law I
BLAW 202 Commercial Law II
MGMT 275 Intro to Business Finance

After completion of the 24 hours, you will have the option to build on your credit hours to complete a VU Certificate of Graduation and/or an Associate of Science degree in Accounting.

How to Get Started

If you are interested in taking VU classes at DFAS, all you have to do is register! You can find the current class schedule and registration form at the bottom of this page.

If you have completed coursework previously with other schools, you may also have to provide transcripts in order to satisfy prerequisite requirements and/or receive transfer credit towards the VU Certificate of Graduation or Associate degree.  It is also highly recommended that you request a transcript evaluation completed by DFAS to determine if you already have credits that count towards the 24 hours to avoid duplicating coursework.
