Welcome to Art and Design
Associates degrees in Art, Graphic Design, Art Education, Pre-Art Therapy and Photography are offered through the College of Humanities. Our nationally accredited programs are designed for preparation and transfer into a bachelors degree program of your choice within the state of Indiana and throughout the United States.
Mission
The mission of the Art and Design Department transfer programs is to provide students with a strong foundation through creative exploration in traditional and contemporary visual media. Studio and lecture courses broaden and enrich students' understanding of and experience in visual art, design, art history and related research areas. Course offering also include lecture and studio classes with meet general education requirements for non-majors.
Art and Design majors develop creativity, critical thinking, presentation skills and a portfolio of work for academic transfer which also serves as a foundation for later professional practice.
Accreditation
Vincennes University is a fully accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) which confers the highest standard of excellence on all Art and Design programs offered at VU.
As a member of the National Portfolio Day Association, (NPDA), Vincennes University's Art and Design department has a portfolio admissions requirement which must be met prior to the first year of studies in Art and Design at VU. The requirement can be met through: independent review with faculty or adviser, digital or online portfolio submission, or National Portfolio Day review with VU faculty.
