Health Sciences Application Info

Welcome to the application site for Vincennes University’s selective Health Sciences and Nursing Programs. Admission is competitive for most programs and compliance with all criteria does not guarantee acceptance to the selected program. We encourage applicants to visit the VU catalog at www.vinu.edu/catalog or our website at www.vinu.edu/healthcareers to view admission criteria and program curriculum.

Please note that some programs have an extended application review process. The majority of programs review applications October through June with notifications emailed at various times. If you are applying for the AS Nursing or Practical Nursing Program please visit www.vinu.edu/nursing for review time frames and application deadlines.

Step 1: Complete a Vincennes University application for admission. Your acceptance to Vincennes University is separate from admission to the College of Health Science and Human Performance.

Step 2: Submit high school (or GED) transcript. High School transcripts may be sent to vuadmit@vinu.edu. Official college transcripts, including transcripts for dual credit courses, must be on file. College transcripts may be sent electronically to records@vinu.edu.

Step 3: If you do not have college transcripts with college credit for English Composition and College Algebra (or higher-level math) you will need test scores on file. Appropriate test scores include Accuplacer, SAT, and/or ACT.

Next Steps
If you are a new applicant to VU (current high school student/transfer student) or had to reapply to VU because you are not currently enrolled, your completed information will be sent to the College of Health Sciences and Human Performance for evaluation. New applicants to VU do not have to submit a secondary application; however, you are encouraged to do so. All Pharmacy Technology students are required to submit a secondary application.

If you are currently enrolled in classes at VU, you will need to submit a secondary application to the College of Health Sciences and Human Performance in order to initiate review.

Applicants may only apply for one program. Please do not submit multiple applications for different programs.

Jasper Nursing applicants should contact the VUJC Nursing Department at rsinclair@vinu.edu to inquire about the application process. Secondary applications are required at Jasper for both current students and new applicants to the University.  

Nursing Applicants
Please note that the Practical Nursing and Associate of Science in Nursing Programs are August (Fall semester) admission only. The RN to BSN Completion Program has January (Spring semester) admission and August/October (Fall semester) admission. Please visit our website at www.vinu.edu/nursing for BSN deadlines. The LPN to ASN Completion Concentration is for January (Spring semester) admission only.

Any student that is selected for admission and accepts a position in the nursing program at the Vincennes Campus will be required to attend mandatory nursing orientation. Orientation dates can be found at www.vinu.edu/nursing.

Funeral Service Education (FSE) and Health Information Management (HIM) Applicants
The FSE and HIM Programs are available online and on campus. The Funeral Service Education Program has an August (Fall semester) start date only. If you plan to complete the program online please contact Michelle Strate in Distance Education at mstrate@vinu.edu.

Pharmacy Technology Applicants
Please be sure to submit the separate Pharmacy Technician/Technology Application. Admission is for August (the Fall semester).

NOTE: Please do not submit letters of recommendation, resumes, or photos with your application. These items are not reviewed with applications and will not be considered with applications.

NOTICE

Our programs will send official communications to students using the email address you have provided on the application form. It is important that you continue to use this email address or notify our office of any change.

Since email has been adopted as a primary mechanism for sending official communications to students, students must check email regularly in order to read important messages and notifications. Certain communications may be time-sensitive. Failure to read official university communications sent to the student does not absolve students from knowing and complying with the content of those official communications. Students must also ensure that there is sufficient space in their e-mail inboxes to allow email to be delivered and received. Be sure that emails are not being sent to your junk mail/SPAM.
